I know we've been over this before, but it bears some repeating in light of a recent mishap by a client. The client in question searches for a particular unique CustomerID in their GoldMine. Something happened where a specific CustomerID was "blanked out". Consequently, no one searching for that ID could find the record in question. Took a few phone calls until we figured out what was happening.
The clients question? "How do I know who changed the CustomerID field?"
In the future, they'll be able to tell because we set up the field to log it's own changes in History.
1. Log into GoldMine as MASTER or equivalent.
2. Find the field you want to track changes in history, right click on the field label and select "Properties".
3. Go to the security Tab.
4. Check the box labeled "Log changes in history".
5. Ok your way out.
Now, whenever the field is modified, you'll get an automatic History entry on the Contact Record that references who did it, when it happened and what the original value of the field was.
